Irvine, California is dominating Orange County’s real estate scene.  Six out of every 10 new houses, condos, and townhomes being built in Orange County this year are going up in Orange County’s third-largest city.  A recent Construction Industry Research Board study reported that Irvine issued building permits made up 58% of the 4,040 new housing units permitted countywide.  Irvine homebuilding — spurred in large part by a successful construction program launched nearly two years ago by the Irvine Co. — increased 63% this year over last. It’s the second year in a row that Irvine has accounted for more than half of Orange County building permits.
