While most of the country is struggling and new home construction is down, Orange County stands out as an exception. According to recent reports, in the first 7 months of 2011, Orange County developers pulled permits for over 3,300 units — up 146& from last year! The rest of California is down 2% in building permits for the same time period.
So where will these builders be building? Irvine leads the pack with 723 single-family permits and 1,578 multifamily units pulled. Tustin is a distant second places with 277, Anaheim is third at 139, and Aliso Viejo fourth at 107. According to Bryan Starr, chief executive of the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, Orange County “continues to be a desirable place to live and the demand for new housing here does exist. Increased affordability and record low mortgage rates make this an ideal time to buy a new home.”
And I could not agree more with Brian! Now is the time to buy. If you have a steady job and good credit there is no reason you shouldn’t qualify for a fabulous home loan!
